Books, movies, and television series were the most popular mediums to convey a story. In recent times, narrative-driven games have also gained a lot of popularity because of its smart, crisp, and visually appealing storytelling techniques. One such example is Lithuania-based indie studio Hidden Layer Games INMOST. One of the best things about this game is that it is available on Steam.

INMOST is a Popular Puzzle Platformer

INMOST is a dark tale that encompasses an emotional and deep atmospheric narrative. According to the makers, this game is a driven puzzle platformer. The dark natures of INMOSTs story offer completely different gameplay as compared to other games in this genre. While playing this tale of deep feelings such as loss, grief, and abandonment, gamers play the game with different characters. There are three characters- a stoic knight, a young girl who is trapped in a house, and uncovers its eerie past and a wanderer who is on a path to find answers. All three characters have completely different gameplay from each other.

The Knight: A Combat-Ready Character in INMOST

While playing the character of the Knight, players will enter a castle which is on a path of deterioration. INMOST has fantastic gameplay wherein you can lure your enemy into dangerous traps, go on to solve environmental puzzles, and use your weapons to protect yourself and finish the game. The game is available on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Apple Arcade. With their selected characters, players can search in every part of the pixelated game world for secret passages and various items. INMOST can be played in 14 different languages on Nintendo Switch.

If you have selected the Knight as your game character, you will notice that the Knight is the only one who is combat-ready. Your character will be able to kill enemies with his crossbows. However, every hostile character you encounter, it will have its strength and weakness. A few enemies might even lunge at you; all you have to do is avoid the attack, strategize that very second and finish it off.

Players Cannot Switch Between Characters At Will

One of the drawbacks of the game is that players are not allowed to switch between characters at their own will. At the start, you will not have the slightest idea that the stories of the three characters are connected. Also, towards the end of the game, players are mere spectators since the game control is taken away from them. The length of the game ranges from 3 to 5 hours. However, it all depends on how fast or slow the player completes the game.

If you choose the wanderer, then be ready that the only way you will be able to finish off your enemies will be to run away from them or take them towards the traps.

Gamers Will Respawn at the Nearest Save Point

One of the plus points about the game is that gamers need not worry about dying. As soon as their character is killed, it respawns at a point where the game is most recently saved. Since it is a puzzle-solving game, a player may witness his character being killed off multiple times before he/she finds the best possible way to progress through INMOST.

The game layout is quite realistic. For example, if you try to climb something, a thing or two will fall off. However, it does not have the same graphics as compared to Farcry or Hitman, but the narrative and dark graphics of the game manage to give an eerie feeling.

INMOST was first released on Apple Arcade as a mobile game before coming to Nintendo Switch in the year 2020. If you play the game on Nintendo Switch, you will come across new content dialogue, characters, etc. However, the basic story of the game will remain the same.
